Motorhead 1977

Motorhead album covers ranked

R.I.P. to the original Motorhead crew. Motorhead have a lot of covers that feature the classic Snaggletooth mascot, sometimes with small differences. There’s a lot to look at and talk about.

1. Motörhead — Motörhead

Motorhead 1977

Classic.

Probably one of the most recognisable covers in metal history. Small bit of trivia: the original artwork actually had a tiny swastika on the spike in the middle of the head.

2. Motörhead — Overkill

Honestly this artwork might even be better than the debut. The only reason it sits at number two is because the first cover is just more iconic.

3. Motörhead — Another Perfect Day

Motorhead Another Perfect Day

Perfect. Yeah, that pun was intentional.

4. Motörhead — Orgasmatron

It’s literally a Snaggletooth train.
What more do you need to say.

Motorhead Orgasmatron

5. Motörhead — Inferno

Motorhead Inferno

Yeah it’s basically a normal Snaggletooth again.
But the three-face design makes it look pretty cool.

6. Motörhead — Sacrifice

This cover looks like a full scene straight out of hell.
And if you look closely the tongue and throat imagery gets… interesting.

Motorhead Sacrifice

7. Motörhead — We Are Motörhead

Motorhead We Are Motorhead

Snaggletooth as the grim reaper standing on a battlefield.
Simple idea but pretty clever.

8. Motörhead — Snake Bite Love

It’s a Snaggletooth snake.
That’s basically the whole concept.

9. Motörhead — Ace of Spades

Motorhead Ace Of Spades

Legendary album cover, even though it’s really just the three band members dressed like outlaws.

10. Motörhead — Rock ’N’ Roll

Not sure why, but this one always felt a bit creepy to me.

Motorhead Rock N' Roll

11. Motörhead — Kiss of Death

Motorhead Kiss Of Death

The weapons and background details are pretty cool.
But honestly the artwork inside the booklet is even better.

12. Motörhead — Aftershock

Dark and pretty intense looking.
Feels like the aftermath of a massive battle, which fits the title.

Motorhead Aftershock

13. Motörhead — Bomber

Motorhead Bomber

Fun concept with the warplane.
Still not quite as strong as the covers ranked above it.

14. Motörhead — Iron Fist

A bit plain compared to others.

Motorhead Iron Fist

15. Motörhead — 1916

Motorhead 1916

This one had huge potential.
It’s about World War I, which could’ve made for an incredible cover.

16. Motörhead — The World Is Yours

Could probably be called unoriginal.
At least the world imagery in the background gives it something extra.

17. Motörhead — Bastards

Motorhead Bastards

Another one that borders on unoriginal, though the spade detail behind the skull saves it slightly.

18. Motörhead — March or Die

Pretty generic cover.
Still, the album itself isn’t as bad as people often say.

Motorhead March Or Die

19. Motörhead — Motörizer

Motorhead Motorizer

Another fairly standard design.
Kind of like the album title itself.
Though “Rock Out” is a great track.

20. Motörhead — Bad Magic

Another simple Snaggletooth cover.
“TIll the End” is the only track that genuinely got an emotional reaction out of me.

Motorhead Bad Magic

21. Motörhead — Hammered

Motorhead Hammered

Very basic artwork.
Kind of like the album itself.

22. Motörhead — Overnight Sensation

Pretty ugly cover honestly.
But at least it’s original.
