Three Highland volunteers prepare for campaign, each carrying a weapon commonly associated with Jacobite forces during the Rising of 1745. The front warrior carries a basket hilted broadsword and targe, the iconic combination of the Highland charge. Beside him stands a spearman armed with a long fighting spear. The third volunteer carries a Lochaber axe, a traditional Highland polearm that remained in use throughout the eighteenth century.
All three Highland Volunteers wear matching yellow and black tartan inspired by the modern MacLeod of Lewis pattern. The shared tartan creates a unified appearance while staying rooted in Highland tradition. Blue bonnets, belted plaids, woollen stockings, and simple leather brogues complete their practical campaign clothing.
